(The Power of the Name of Jesus)

TO THE BIBLE: Mark 16:17
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.”

LET’S TALK
It’s instructive to know that the very first sign the Lord said would follow those that believe is that they’ll cast out devils, in His Name. And guess what? You can act on that word right now and have results.

An important question to ask would be, “How much power do you wield when you’re given the power of attorney?” It depends on the one who gave you that power of attorney; so, how much power does Jesus have?

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus said, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” This is extraordinary! He didn’t say “some power is given unto me”; rather, He said “ALL power”!

Then, the most awe-inspiring part is that He said, “…in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). This means every angel is subject to Jesus. Every demon is subject to Jesus. Everything in life, living and non-living—systems, structures, processes, kingdoms, thrones, governments, etc.—is subject to the authority of Jesus. Hallelujah!

The Apostle Paul very succinctly describes the profundity of Christ’s authority and His delegated power to the Church in Ephesians 1:20-23 MSG when he said, “All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule.

And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church.

The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.” Blessed be God!

Pray:
Dear Father, I thank you for giving me the power of attorney to use the Name of Jesus and to act in His stead. I exercise this authority today over all demons, forces of darkness, circumstances, systems and structures of this world. I declare that all things are subject to me as I function from a place of dominion and victory in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
