Look To The Lord – Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional November 28th

(Turn Your Attention Away From Everything Else To The Lord)

TO THE BIBLE: Psalm 121:1-2
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

LET’S TALK
“My uncle is a billionaire business mogul, and I can ask him for anything I want,” Eleanor smiled smugly to herself as she rode to school in his chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce.

But her feeling of pride didn’t last for very long, as the next time she tried asking a favour from him, she got reprimanded.

Until that point, she didn’t realise she’d been solely focused on and dependent on people who could fail, reject, or refuse her.

How important it is for us to take our eyes and attention away from ourselves and those we’re “connected” with, and look to the Lord!

It brings to mind the story of Abraham in Genesis 15. God told him, “Do not be afraid…I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward” (verse 1).

And in Genesis 15:5–6, we read, “Then He (God) brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” Soon afterwards, Isaac was born.

God helped Abraham look in the right direction and set his focus correctly. In the end, Abraham looked away from his old age and circumstances towards heaven and got Isaac.

Refuse to be one who looks into your wallet or purse to determine what you’ve got in life. Refuse to be anxious about who’s going to help you!

Don’t say, “I’m so broke; there’s no money here.” No! Look away from that to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. That’s one reason you pray and meditate on the Word.
That’s how you can really focus your attention on the Lord to see and experience the miraculous!
