Doing The Word – Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional July 25th

(The Proof Of Your Love For The Master)

TO THE BIBLE: John 8:31
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.””

LET’S TALK
It wasn’t difficult to understand why Marian was the class teacher’s favourite. She attended meticulously to Mrs Edgar’s instructions on classwork.

Once, after a short-term break, Marian was the only student who completed all three projects the class teacher had asked every student to do.

The others gave one excuse or another as to why they didn’t complete their projects. Mrs Edgars couldn’t help but commend young Marian before the entire class.

In John 14:15, Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My Word.” That just about says it all. Doing the Word is how you prove your love for Jesus.

When you murmur or grumble against the Word or try to negotiate God’s instructions, you’re not proving your love for the Master. Prove your love for the Master today by doing what His Word says.

For example, Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34).

Keeping that Word—loving your brothers and sisters in Christ the same way Christ has loved you— is proof that you love the Master.

Similarly, you won’t try to cheat another Christian because you know that’s against God’s Word.
You’ll also put pride, bitterness, disobedience, and arrogance far away from you because the Word instructs us against them.

So, fan the embers of your love for the Lord today by esteeming His Word, for His Word is life. Be a doer of the Word.
