Be Excellent, No Matter What! – Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional May 16th

(Make Up Your Mind For Excellence)

TO THE BIBLE: Matthew 5:16 AMPC
“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.”

LET’S TALK
“Haven’t you studied enough? It’s past 12 o’clock already!” hollered Brian to Frank, his studymate.
“Nope, I want to cover the entire syllabus before the exams come in a fortnight.”
“Come on, bro, the exams aren’t here yet; why burden yourself like this?”
“It’s not a burden, Brian; I just want to be excellent!”

Reading our opening verse, you’ll observe how the Lord Jesus instructs that you let your light shine so that men may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

The word “good” here refers to something eminent, choice, surpassing, precious, useful, suitable, commendable, and admirable—something excellent in its nature and characteristics and therefore well-adapted to its ends.

This means that when you commit to always executing anything assigned to you with excellence, your light will shine so brightly before other people that they’ll see your good works. Your good works will speak for you, and those people won’t be able to ignore you.

Imagine it was revealed that an airline cut corners in their fleet maintenance and their pilots habitually skipped preflight checks; you wouldn’t want to board any of their planes.

It’s for the same reason that you must refuse to cut corners or accept half-measures in anything you do.

God desires to place the world in the hands of His children who have been trained to walk in excellence—those who will go above and beyond to produce the best results.
Does that describe you? It’s time you made the conscious choice to be the best at what you do.

Reject half-measures. Do excellent things this year. It reminds me of what the Bible says in Proverbs 22:29: “Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.”

When you have an excellent mind and do excellent things, you won’t take a back seat to anyone. It doesn’t matter whether or not someone notices; just make the right choice for excellence and run with it.
