Truly Reconciled To God – Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional September 17th

(Serve Him In Righteousness And Holiness)

TO THE BIBLE: 2 Corinthians 5:20
“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”

LET’S TALK
From the opening verse above, we can observe the careful choice of words by the Apostle Paul. In verse eighteen, he states, “We (all of us) have been given the ministry of reconciliation.”

He emphasises the significance of this ministry and urges the Corinthian church to spread the Gospel to the world.

However, Paul has another point to make, which he communicates to them. After stressing the importance of reconciling people to God, he moves on to his next subject and declares, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV).

When Paul says, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors…,” he is not referring to the entire body of Christ, but specifically to himself and his companions, such as Timothy, with whom he wrote this letter. He counsels the Corinthian church to be reconciled to God.

The same people he had encouraged to reconcile the world to God are now being urged to be reconciled to God. Why?

It is because they had not been living righteously. Therefore, he says to them, “Just as the Spirit has said, ‘Go to the people of the world and reconcile them to God,’ He is also saying to you, repent and be reconciled to God.”

This is important because, as God’s people, we are encouraged to be involved in the work of the ministry, to take the message of salvation to the unsaved, and to reconcile people to God. But while you are doing that, live a life that pleases the Lord.

Christianity is a call to righteousness and a walk in righteousness. Do not live in sin. The Bible says, “…Sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:14).

Serve God in holiness and righteousness. Stay committed to the Word and practise your Christianity, regardless of the pressures. Live the life of the righteous person every day.

Pray:
Dear Father, thank you for imparting to me the nature of righteousness such that I’m able to live a righteous life. I walk in righteousness and produce works and fruits of righteousness. I’m a light in a dark world, lighting the paths of sinners that they may see and be ushered into the Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
