(Feed On The Word For Spiritual Fitness)

TO THE BIBLE: 1 Peter 2:2
“As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”

LET’S TALK
Just as good nutrition is necessary for proper physical growth, God’s Word is the essential nourishment for spiritual growth. Someone who is malnourished wouldn’t have enough resistance when sickness or disease attacks his body. It’s the same spiritually.

When a Christian neglects God’s Word, he’ll be susceptible to attacks from the devil and subject to the circumstances of the world around him.

To grow and mature in Christ, you must feed voraciously on God’s Word. The Bible says, “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2).

When Paul told the Corinthian church that he fed them with milk and “…not with solid food…” (1 Corinthians 3:2), he wasn’t referring to physical food; he was referring to God’s Word. In describing a successful man, the Psalmist said, “…in His law (God’s Word) he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1:2).

For the Word of God to dwell in you richly, you must esteem and desire it more than your physical food. This is how to move to the next level in your Christian life—getting more rooted and grounded in the Word.

Be unshakable and unmovable in your resolve to get the best out of the Word. Feed your spirit with the Word today.

Pray:
Dear Father, my heart is opened to receive your Word and live by it today. I refuse to be swayed by the many contrary voices in the world; rather, I make a deliberate choice to look away from everything else and focus my gaze on your Word. By this, I continuously function in the realities of your Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Act:
Meditate deeply on Psalm 1:1-3: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
