Rhapsody of Realities TeeVo Devotional 8th August – He Is The “Messiah”

(Jesus Christ Is The Ultimate Deliverer)

TO THE BIBLE: 1 Timothy 2:5-6
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”

LET’S TALK
The word “Christ” is the English form of the Greek “Christos” and the Hebrew “Messiah.” “Messiah” means “the God-man deliverer.” The Jews figured out from the prophecies of Moses and other prophets that the “Messiah” was coming. He was the one to bring them the ultimate deliverance from all that was evil and all that had been corrupted by human nature.

In the Garden of Eden, when Man committed high treason against God, he fell and lost his rights to the world. Therefore, all that was human was corrupted and needed to be delivered. This is why the prophet Jeremiah cried out in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”

So, the Jews knew this and expected the One who would deliver them from all that was evil, and all that was human. They looked forward to the coming of this “God-man” Messiah, who was also called “The Anointed One.”
They were familiar with the anointing of God; they knew that Moses, Aaron, Eli, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Saul, David, etc. were all anointed. So, they weren’t just talking about an anointed priest, prophet or king; they were talking about “the Ultimate Deliverer.”

They called Him the God-man, because all that’s found in God—all His qualities and His character—would be found in this man. That Ultimate Deliverer is the Lord Jesus Christ. He’s the character, potency, power, and glory of God personified in one man. Hallelujah!

Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that by your death on the cross, you delivered man from the power and dominion of the adversary, and now, through your glorious resurrection, we’ve been ushered into the divine life of glory, victory and prosperity. Now, I bask in your anointing, grace, mercy and love, by which I live the ever-transcendent life. Amen.
