(His Name Is Above All)
TO THE BIBLE: Exodus 20:7 MSG
“No using the name of GOD, your God, in curses or silly banter; GOD won’t put up with the irreverant use of his name.”
LET’S TALK
Your school principal walks into the classroom. Nobody calls him by his first name; instead, everyone respectfully says, “Good morning, sir” or “Good morning, principal.”
Why? Because his position commands honour. Now think about the Lord Jesus. After His resurrection, He wasn’t just “Jesus” anymore. He became Lord Jesus Christ, exalted above all, seated at the right hand of the Father with supreme authority.
In the Old Testament, the Jews were instructed not to take the name of the Lord in vain. For example, Exodus 20:7 says, “…the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”
The Jews understood the greatness of God’s Name to such an extent that they avoided pronouncing it altogether.
Instead, they substituted it with “Adonai.” When scribes, copying the Scriptures, encountered the Name, they would pause, go wash themselves, and then proceed to write it. If the Name appeared multiple times, they would repeat the process for each instance.
This level of reverence came from an awareness of God’s greatness and majesty and the awe-inspiring deeds He wrought amongst their forefathers.
Contrast this with how casually many Christians use His Name today. People shout His Name while cutting a cake or use it as an exclamation in everyday speech without understanding its power or significance.
This casual attitude toward the Name of Jesus reveals a deeper issue: a lack of knowledge of who He truly is.
When Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well, He said, “Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews” (John 4:22).
The Samaritans, being a mixed race with a history of idolatry, lacked a proper understanding of worship and reverence.
Sadly, this lack of understanding persists today. You must understand and live in the reality of the Lordship of Jesus. He’s not just great; He is greatness.
Have this understanding when you worship Him. Address Him correctly. After His resurrection, no one ever directly addressed Him simply as “Jesus.”
He was addressed as Lord, Lord Jesus, because His resurrection exalted Him to the place of supreme authority. When speaking about Him, we may say “Jesus,” but when addressing Him, we must honour Him as Lord.

Philippians 2:9-11; Acts 2:36; Colossians 1:15-18
Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I honour and reverence your holy Name, for you’re the Undisputed Ruler, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, and lives in unapproachable light. Thank you, Lord, for the privilege to know you and walk in the light of your Word. Your Name is exalted above all, and I recognize you as Lord of all. Amen.

Act:
Recognize his supremacy the name of Jesus is not an exclamation; it’s the authority of heaven. Speak His Name purposefully; use His Name to command healing, victory, and answers not as casual slang.
When addressing Him, we must honour Him as Lord.
When speaking about Him, we may say “Jesus,” but when addressing Him, we must honour Him as Lord.
Jesus is not just great; He is greatness.

Here’s tomorrow’s TeeVo:
hink of a group project in school. Everyone is
assigned a role, but sometimes, students slack
off, thinking, “Someone else will do it.” Now, imagine if you
approached the project like it was all up to you; research,
presentation, and final delivery. You’d give your best, and the
project would succeed. That’s how Paul saw the preaching
of the Gospel. He didn’t think, “Oh, there are many apostles;
someone will handle it.” No! He declared, “Woe is me if I
preach not the Gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16). He carried it like
a personal assignment from God.
When it comes to the preaching of the Gospel in
all the nations of the earth, you’ll have to approach it as
though it depended on you alone to do it. That was the
mentality Paul had and it’s worth emulating. When you
have such a fire in your spirit, nothing can quench it. You’d
say like Paul, “…necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto
me, if I preach not the gospel!” Paul recognized the weight
of responsibility placed on him and was determined to take
the message to the entire world.
Your positioning, thinking and mentality have to be
the same. Don’t have the idea that “Oh, there are so many
Christians, churches and ministries around the world; I hope
they’re going to do something for the full preaching of the
Gospel.” Instead, ask yourself, “What am I going to do as
an individual?” Paul said, “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust” (1 Timothy
1:11); he personalized it.
Can God trust you to do the same? If He left the
fulfilment of His vision to you, could you be trusted to get
it done? This should get you to think differently about soul
winning and how you intercede for those who haven’t yet
known the Lord. If you were the only Christian in your country,
state, city, neighbourhood, etc., how would you function?
What would you do differently? Would you continue at
your current pace or rise to the challenge and do more? Be
determined to make a far greater impact with the Gospel in
your environment. Don’t wait; make the decisions you need
to make and act on them quickly. Set your priorities for soul
winning and evangelism.

‘Good Day’ By Forest Frank
Hey that’s what my sister posts every day
Okay, okay, okay, okay
I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day)
No matter what they say (what they say)
Sun is shining down on me
Birds are singing praise
I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day)
In every single way
The God who made the universe
Knows me by my name
So it’s a good day
Baby, in my arms walking through the neighborhood
Living in the present, not woulda shoulda or coulda
I remember back when I was low as a rug
Now I’m standing up look at what my father does
Turning old things new
Grey skies blue
Hear the church saying, “Won’t He do it?”
I know He’s got my back
That’s why I’m singing that
I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day)
No matter what they say (what they say)
Sun is shining down on me
Birds are singing praise
I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day)
In every single way
The God who made the universe
Knows me by my name
So it’s a good day (yeah)
It’s a good day, mmm no, it’s great
Everything I prayed for didn’t come in late
I got all I need and I didn’t have to wait
Ask me if you love me, you didn’t hesitate
Turning old things new
Grey skies blue
Hear the church saying, “Won’t He do it?”
I know He’s got my back
That’s why I’m singing that
I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day)
No matter what they say (no matter what they say)
