(You Received Eternal Life When You Were Born Again)

TO THE BIBLE: JOHN 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

LET’S TALK
One of the most powerful truths in the Gospel is not only that Jesus died for our sins but that He gave us something priceless in addition—eternal life.

John 3:16 is one of the most well-known verses in the Bible, and for good reason. It says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

This verse tells us something amazing: if you believe in Jesus, you have eternal life. It’s not something you have to earn, wait for, or wonder about. It’s yours immediately!

The Lord Jesus Himself confirmed this in John 6:47 when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.”

Notice the words “has everlasting life.” He didn’t say you will have it one day. He said you already have it.

Sadly, many who say they believe in Jesus don’t realise this. When asked if they received anything when they believed, they aren’t sure how to answer. They were never taught that something extraordinary happened in that moment of faith.

1 John 5:11-12 says, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” He who has the Son has life—that’s clear, present-tense language. If you have Jesus, you already have eternal life.

There’s no need to keep asking God for something He’s already given you. The very next verse, 1 John 5:13, is especially powerful. It says, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life…” God wants you to know—not guess, not hope, but know—that you have eternal life!

Why does this matter so much? Because when you truly understand that eternal life is already yours, it changes the way you live. You no longer live in fear or uncertainty.

You’re not worried about whether you’re “good enough” to make it to heaven. Instead, you live in peace, assurance, and joy.

You live with the confidence that comes from knowing who you are in Christ and what He’s given you. Hallelujah!
