Six Salient Facts About Christmas

Christmas is a sacred reminder of the moment when eternity touched time—when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). It marks the fulfillment of divine promise, the manifestation of God’s love, and the unveiling of His redemptive plan for humanity.

At Christmas, we celebrate more than a birth; we contemplate the mystery of godliness—God manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16).

1. A Promise Fulfilled
The story of Christmas began in Eden, when God declared that the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15). Throughout the ages, prophets foretold the coming of the Messiah. In Christ, every prophecy found its “Yes” and “Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20).

2. God With Us
Jesus was not created; He came forth from the Father, full of grace and truth. In the person of Christ, God stepped into human history—not as a distant deity, but as Emmanuel, “God with us” (Matthew 1:23). The Eternal became visible.

3. A Humble Beginning
Though born in a manger, His arrival was divinely orchestrated. The humility of His birth did not diminish His glory—it revealed it. He emptied Himself of reputation and came as a servant (Philippians 2:7), setting an example of true greatness.

4. Revealed to the Lowly
The first to hear the announcement were shepherds, reminding us that God often entrusts His greatest revelations to the humble (Luke 2:8-11). Christmas teaches us that divine favour is not reserved for the powerful, but for the believing.

5. The Gift of Eternal Life
In Christ was life, and that life was the light of men (John 1:4). Christmas is the celebration of the gift of eternal life—divine life brought to us in Christ Jesus. It is a call to receive, believe, and walk in that life daily.

6. The Cross in View
Even at His birth, the mission was clear. He came to save, to redeem, and to restore. The manger led to the cross, and the cross to the resurrection. Christmas is the beginning of the greatest story ever told—one that continues in every heart that believes.
