(The Lord Jesus Is ‘The Son Of Man’)

TO THE BIBLE: John 12:34
“The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

LET’S TALK
Have you ever wondered what the Lord Jesus meant when He called Himself “the Son of Man”?
is title wasn’t just a random phrase; it held deep meaning that the Jewish people immediately understood.

To them, it was a bold claim that He was the Messiah, the Christ they had been waiting for.For instance, in Matthew 8:20, He said, “…Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Also, after He was asked if He was the Christ, He responded, “…I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven” (Mark 14:62).

And then in Luke 9:26, He warned, “…whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory….”

At first glance, it might sound like He was just talking about being human, but there’s much more to it. Jesus wasn’t just saying, “I’m a son of a man”; He was referencing a specific prophecy in the book of Daniel.

In Daniel 7:13, it says, “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of Man came with the clouds of heaven.”

Daniel’s vision of “the Son of Man” coming with the clouds of heaven is closely linked to Jesus’ proclamation before the high priest in Matthew 26:64.

When asked if He was the Christ, Jesus replied, “Yes, it is as you say…But I say to all of you: In the future, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven”(NIV). “Son of Man” was a title of the Christ.

Jesus is God in human flesh, our great God and Saviour who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works (Titus 2:13-14). Glory, Hallelujah!
